Day One! Part 1

Day One! Part 1

Yes. 3:30 came VERY early this morning. Plus the fact I’m sleeping in a strange place and concerned with making sure I’m up to catch the flight I didn’t sleep much.

However, we boarded the plane from Little Rock and made it to Dallas without a hitch. Troy and I grabbed some dry eggs and breakfast bread (also known as ‘toast’) at TGI Fridays (pictured at right) and chilled out a little bit before boarding the plane to San Diego. Funny. We leave Dallas at 8:25a.m. and arrive in San Diego at 8:35. The trip sure FEELS longer than ten minutes.

Full plane too. At the moment I’m writing from 32,000 feet in the air. Troy is snoring lightly next to me and some other dude is sitting on the other side of him with his mouth hanging open.

Me? I’m checking out the horizon from time to time but everything seems pretty flat at the moment.

Tooling around San Diego at the moment looking for our hotel. Taking a little longer to get around. Already met people who gave us tips. More soon!

Day Zero – The adventure begins

Day Zero – The adventure begins

WOO HOO! On the road I go. Packed my bags, bought some goodies, and gave my girlfriend a smooch before heading south to Little Rock.

Already the mood is set when my friend Troy gave me a gift he’s had for several years. It’s a signed set of Bluntman and Chronic action figures. Signed by Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes. Snootchie Bootchies!

So, my bags are packed, organized and computer and phone are charging. My friend Troy and I are a bit wired and decided to watch a documentary called “Starwoids.” Directed by Dennis Przywara in 2001 about Star Wars fans and how they waited in line for 42 some odd days for Star Wars: Episode I. We’re watching it because we’re meeting Dennis through a mutual high school friend. Dennis had Kevin Smith do the introduction…Smith being a big Star Wars geek himself. All hail the ORIGINAL trilogy. Not that “ring” crap (laugh).

That’s all for now! Gotta go take a nap before getting up at 3:30.

Stay tuned!

Adventure Awaits at the San Diego ComicCon

Adventure Awaits at the San Diego ComicCon

Less than 36 hours from now, I’ll be heading to the airport for my first taste of a large convention. Not just ANY convention, but the San Diego ComicCon. It’s estimated that over 140,000 people will be attending this year. They’ll have over 700 vendors, artists and guests; 400 Q&A sessions; gaming; Film Festival; and more I haven’t even seen. Movie stars. Writers. Directors. Artists.

Personally, I’m hoping to see this group of actors:

I’m also hoping to meet Kevin Smith, who will be moderating the Battlestar panel (pictured above).

Oh yes, and Kate Beckinsale as well.

I’ll keep you posted! Until next time….

Namesté Ya’ll!

P.P.S. Kristi, if you’re reading this, I’ll TRY to bring Simon Pegg back with me, but no promises! (laugh)
